Our friend from Kathmandu is a member of the Shakya-tribe, which derives its origins from the clan of Buddha Shakyamuni. Nowadays many members of this family lineage are producers of so called rupas, metal statues of buddhist, tantric and hinduistic iconography. The rupas are produced according methods, which have been used since long time, already two thousand years and the whole family is working in this business together.
